Steve was instrumental in my success on the California Bar Examination! His method proved to be an excellent strategy for

This third time around, I studied differently and used a cocktail consisting of: hardcopy and computerized MBEs intermittently to get a different feel; my essay books and WINNIN’ TIME! to review subjects and essay outlines (no lectures); the schedule from previous attempts up to Feb 2, 2015, when I began Essay Review Week with The Trigger List; and back to WINNIN’ TIME! with my memorization plan beginning Feb 9th for 14 days. I listened to the study lectures I still had for PT from your program along with some samples from my books. In addition, this time, I went back and strengthened weak areas of issues or sub-issues. Of course, I practiced the Evidence and PR Boilerplates, although, thankfully, the race-horse method wasn’t needed this time. It still helped on the PT’s though.

Due to my injuries and subsequent medical condition, this was the first time I really read, understood and adhered to Essay Review Week which I credit with my passing the Bar. My MBE’s have always been high (different mental processing), but I’d been unable to physically practice writing essays and my essay scores reflected this deficiency. I was still unable to practice writing but this time, I visually reviewed over 100 essay questions and studied the patterns of over 200 sample answers using the schedule and instructions you provided. Jeez, did that make a difference!

I’ve referred more folks to your website for books to aide in their studying. I’m so thankful to put this chapter behind me that I literally don’t know what to do with myself! Thank you so much for authoring such awesome books-after choosing to follow your instructions, they truly made the difference in my ability to find a way to efficiently study and successfully pass the Bar! — Tahnjah Poe, Esq., passed the February 2015 California Bar Examination

Lorena Garcia, Esq., passed the February 2019 California Bar Examination

I signed up for the 3-month tutoring program and I am so happy that I did because I PASSED the February 2019 California Bar Exam! After several failed attempts and spending so much money on other major prep courses, I was really disappointed, frustrated and defeated. I contacted Steven and he was extremely helpful since day one. Steven is also a repeat test taker and this is really helpful because he knows the struggles repeaters go through. When I told Steven my memorization approach (writing out what seemed like a million flashcards and writing outline after outline) – he said he had also done this when he was studying and that these methods had also not worked out for him. His program has a far better method for memorization and thank goodness it does not involve flashcards.

Steven provides you with a monthly day-to-day calendar. During the week, I would do all the assignments and then I would meet with him once a week and we would discuss MBEs, essays and Performance Tests. I would submit essays during the week and Steven would provide me with written feedback and we would also discuss them during our meetings. This was very helpful because he would tell me exactly what I was doing wrong or what I was doing right. Also, Steven’s method to approaching the Performance Test made a world of difference. When I started applying Steven’s method, my scores immediately jumped from 55/60 to 70s and I was also able to finish on time. On the day of the exam, I killed the PT and this felt very empowering during the exam and boosted my confidence which is exactly what you need during this nerve-wracking exam.

Steven also provided 1-on-1 MBE tutoring. We discussed each subject and he gave me tips and tricks for each subject. He also tells you which area of the subject you should focus your studying and which areas generate the most points. For Property MBEs, he even has a method on how to approach RAP MBEs which are some of the most difficult and time-consuming MBEs.

Overall, I think Steven’s program was worth every penny and I definitely recommend this program. Thank you so much Steven. — Lorena Garcia, Esq., passed the February 2019 California Bar Examination

Big Law associate, Esq., passed February 2017

Steven really knows the bar exam inside and out and has tons of tips and tricks that the large bar courses don’t offer. His materials are on point and he really boils it down to the important stuff to help you focus on point generation. His one-on-one tutoring was personalized and tailored to me unlike the large bar courses’ one-size fits all model and access to his knowledge helped answer many of the unknowns and questions I had about the bar. I was 100% more prepared for the bar after working with Steven than I had been on my first try with a popular bar review course. For first-time takers, second-time takers or however many times you’ve taken the bar already, I highly, highly recommend Steven. — Big Law associate, Esq., passed the February 2017 Cal Bar Examination

2015 Irvine Grad, 2nd timer, passed February 2016

Steven Harris was my number one cheerleader throughout the entire bar prep process, but he never sugar-coated anything, which is exactly what a repeat taker needs. The WINNIN’ TIME! book was a lifesaver, and the mnemonics – as crazy as they were – actually worked for memorization purposes. I really wish I had the WINNIN’ TIME! book when I was a 1L, but you can’t win ‘em all! (Pun intended). And most importantly, Steven’s memorization plan for the bar was essentially flawless. Thanks, Steven! — 2015 Irvine Grad, 2nd timer, passed the February 2016 California Bar Examination

Imran K., Esq., passed the July 2017 Cal Bar Exam

I highly recommend Steve Harris’ program for California Bar Examination repeaters. His books WINNIN’ TIME! and The Trigger List are absolute must-haves for anyone who wants to pass this thing. There’s a lot of great things I could write about Steve’s wonderful program, but I’ll focus on some of the best things.

What Steve understands in a fundamental sense is that success on the bar exam is about maximizing efficiency. There are many commercial outlines out there that present the law neatly and accurately. But none of them do so efficiently. A good outline spells out the rules the way you will write them in the exam. That’s the only thing that is important. Simple and to the point. WINNIN’ TIME! does all of the extra work of paring and slimming down complicated rules and multi-factor tests into single sentences so that you can memorize them efficiently, spit them out quick and maximize points.

The Trigger List is brilliant because it allows you to see the forest for the trees for each and every subject tested on the exam. By pairing each of the bar’s previous essays into simple issue lists, the book allows students to move seamlessly from theory to practice, and on how the most commonly tested issues nearly always appear in conjunction with each other. You need to know the law, but the key to passing the exam is whether you know the patterns. The Trigger List will help you see the patterns, and by the time you are ready to take the test, you will be able to outline an essay in your head almost before you finish reading the question and fact pattern.

Finally, the feedback Steve provides on essays will be the most comprehensive and thoughtful you will ever get, even in law school. His written feedback will be longer than your essays, and he will even suggest ways to improve your strengths as well as your weaknesses.

The bar exam is difficult. It is designed to trick and overwhelm students with the idea that a vast amount of material can be tested at any time. But it’s just a trick, and it is doable, and Steve has managed to prove above all else that it is predictable. The issues are predictable, the exam writers are predictable, and the graders are predictable. That means you can outwit them. Steve can help you make that happen. — Imran K., Esq., passed the July 2017 California Bar Examination

Jennifer (last name withheld at applicant’s request), Esq., passed the July 2017 California Bar Examination

Knowing that my chances of passing the CA Bar the 1st time were even lower than most applicants since I attended an unaccredited online law school, I fortunately came across Steven’s website as I considered hiring a tutor. He fit me in as a new student and promptly sent me the WINNIN’ TIME! book. As I skimmed it, I realized I had struck gold. The book alone would have been worth the cost of tutoring for me as it became my “Bible” in the months and weeks prior to the July 2017 exam.

Once we started meeting; however, I realized the feedback on the essays and PTs were also very useful as they were specific and showed me things which happily developed into “lightbulb,” or “AHA” moments. Even carefully reviewing a model answer can’t compare with hearing why you missed an issue or why you sometimes must repeat arguments for each issue (i.e. BOTH parties may be repudiating or I should discuss duty of loyalty for ALL offenses)….

My knowledge started deepening and I knew, even though Steven is quite direct and was sometimes a bit short responding to my questions, that this type of feedback was just what I needed. Following the tutoring, I then shifted to Barbri at Santa Clara Univ., but kept using my WINNIN’ TIME! book as I took notes. I felt I had a “secret” that would ensure my success, and was confident enough to even recommend Steven and my book to several fellow applicants.

On that note, I also truly believe that if my online law school classmates hired Steven, or at least would avail themselves of WINNIN’ TIME!, the school’s pass rate would go up considerably. Although the program is a hefty financial investment, you came this far, so isn’t it worth not having to wait another 6 months not to mention the hours of studying? I’m SO thankful I’m Done at One!!!

In conclusion, if you’re a sensitive person, brace yourself a bit but remember the prize. You won’t be coddled, but then again that’s not how you will improve. I recommend Steven and WINNIN’ TIME! wholeheartedly. It was my “secret” to success but I want to share it with you, especially if you went the nontraditional path as I did. If you didn’t, then maybe it’s not fair for you to use Steven! Seriously though, why make it harder on yourself when Steven has figured out the keys to CA bar success? — Jennifer (last name withheld at applicant’s request), Esq., passed the July 2017 California Bar Examination

S.J., Esq., passed the February 2018 California Bar Examination (27.3% pass rate)

This was my first time taking the CA bar exam and the second bar exam I have taken. I knew I needed a tutor to help me stay on track since I would be working while studying. I was particularly looking for a tutor with an outstanding essay preparation program and trusted in Steven at the recommendation of a former classmate and after hearing about his rigorous essay writing schedule, essay review week, PT program and prior experience teaching for Bar/Bri. I am happy to say I passed the exam and I largely attribute my success to the essay skills I learned from Steven.

From early in December, he taught me how to organize essays, from including headings to the sentence structure bar graders want to see and will award points. His Essay Review Week, in his program just days before the exam, is invaluable and exposes you to how the examiners commonly test subjects and cluster issues. Using his Essay Review Week and The Trigger List were very helpful in me understanding issues that I would not normally discuss but that the bar graders were looking for me to discuss. I also felt very confident on exam day about the PT after the multiple PTs Steven’s program gave me exposure to and his PT attack plan. The exam day just felt like another practice PT and I think I picked up a lot of points on the PT to offset any mistakes I may have made on other portions of the exam.

Lastly, Steven’s personalized approach with a custom calendar, emails, due dates and weekly calls held me accountable to a study plan and ensured I was ready by exam week. I would highly recommend Steven’s program to first time and repeat takers, especially those working and particularly for applicants who are preparing for the exam from the East Coast. I’m glad I made the investment and the CBX is now behind me! – S.J., Esq., passed the February 2018 California Bar Examination

BigLaw Partner, Esq., passed the July 2019 California Bar Examination

As a partner at a BigLaw firm (that relocated to California at the firm’s request), I can tell you that if you’re short on time and need to pass the Cal Bar Exam the first time, you MUST go with Steven! It’s seriously the best investment you can make.

The July 2019 Cal Bar Exam was the first time I had taken a bar exam in 15 years, and as a transactions lawyer (with zero experience actually having to go to court, write a brief, or answer a complaint), I basically had to cram 3 years of law school into 2 months — all while working a full day and managing 3 associates on my team. “International Shoe”? Huh? Is that a shoe store? Supplemental jurisdiction? I had no idea what that was. So, was passing the most difficult bar exam in the country the first time, a daunting task? Yes. But an impossible feat? NO! Not with Steven’s help and the rest of the Calweasel Point Generator Series materials.

After an initial consultation, Steven was able to understand how I studied best in order to put together a study regimen for my busy work schedule. Steven’s expertise taught me how to effectively take the California bar exam and PASS it the first time. The Calweasel Point Generator Materials were super helpful. WINNIN’ TIME! was a life saver. No big voluminous books, no overflowing outlines. Just concise materials that were easy to read, understand, and most importantly — easy to MEMORIZE.

Because I was taking the attorney’s exam (which was essays only), Steven knew that if I could focus on mastering the dreaded Performance Test (the PT), your chances of passing the exam skyrocket. So, that’s exactly what we focused on — CRUSHING the PT! It was the best strategy for me in taking this exam.

Steven’s tried and true “Memorization Period” strategy was also huge. It told me how to use literally every hour of the day in the last two weeks leading up to the exam to effectively memorize every subject that would be tested on the exam. I only took off two weeks of work (yes, two weeks, though we started working together earlier), to cram for the exam. Not only did I feel like I had a good handle on every subject for the bar exam, I KNEW I would pass the exam.

Bottom line is this: If you’re short on time, and need to pass this exam while working a full time job, I HIGHLY recommend Steven’s services. It’s the best possible investment you can make! — BigLaw Partner, Esq., passed the July 2019 Cal Bar Examination

A.L., Esq., Santa Clara Grad, passed the February 2020 California Bar Examination (lowest pass rate ever)

Steven has cracked the code on the California bar exam. I walked into the bar confident and prepared. As I was taking the exam, the issues on the essays jumped out at me. The performance test was a format I had seen before. The answers on the multiple choice were clear. A combination of Steven’s essay review week, unique MBE tricks, customized study calendar, thoughtful feedback, and his WINNIN’ TIME! (my new favorite book for black letter law) demystified the bar. On top of teaching a program that really works, Steven is an inspiring coach. I highly recommend Steven’s bar tutoring program! — A.L., Esq., Santa Clara Grad, passed the February 2020 California Bar Examination
