Helping Students To Crush
the California bar exam
If you’re like most California law students, you’re worried about passing the Bar.

It doesn’t matter if it’s your first time or your tenth. It doesn’t matter if you’re struggling through law school or in the top 10% of your class.

You want an insurance policy to ensure that the next time you take the Bar exam is the last time you take the Bar exam.

Bar Tutoring
You Don’t Have To Do It Alone

No one passes the California Bar (or any bar exam!) by accident. It takes hours upon hours of studying, note taking, and memorization before you’re ready to make the attempt. And even then, there’s no guarantee that you will pass.

The solution? 1-on-1 guidance from a recognized expert.

My name is Steven Harris, and I can help you ace the California Bar exam. Not only did I pass the bar myself, I have more than 20 years of experience helping law students just like you prep for (and pass!) the most important exam they will ever take.

Relax. We’ve Got This.

Your bar exam tutor shouldn’t be someone who simply passed the bar exam—or worse yet: someone who doesn’t know how they passed it!

You want someone who knows what to expect from the California Bar year after year after year. Someone who understands the exam, knows about your progress and pitfalls, and can help you bridge the gap to launch you into your career.

A Method That Works

Like many law students, I failed the bar exam before I passed.  But unlike most bar students, I wasn’t content to simply keep memorizing my notes.

Instead, I analyzed the bar exam itself, picking apart sample answers and identifying words and phrases that can act as clues to an otherwise clueless student.  The result?  A tried-and-true program that makes passing the bar exam possible, no matter how many times you’ve failed in the past.

Why 1-on-1 Tutoring?

Sure, you could attend dense law lectures from a variety of people. You could even work 1-on-1 with an essay tutor, PT tutor, and an MBE tutor. You could attend class after class, seminar after seminar, week after week. After all, that’s the traditional method of bar prep.

But the traditional method takes a lot longer. I’ve developed a method that takes 8-12 hours of prep work and condenses it into 3-5 hours.

True 1-on-1 Tutoring

No assistants. No “guest lecturers.” Just me.

A lot of California Bar tutors work more like CEOs, splitting up the work between themselves and a variety of assistants (some of them current applicants themselves!). Do you know ahead of time who those assistants are or what credentials they have?

If you signed up to work with an expert in the California Bar exam, that’s exactly what you deserve.

Does it work?

OK, sure.

Always good to work with one person, 1-on-1, on all three parts of the exam.  But what about working with former bar graders? Isn’t that good?

It depends.

Ask the former bar grader how many PTs or MBEs s/he has graded. Chances are, the answer is 0. And for the essays, note that the former bar grader is probably incredibly good at scoring practice essays, not the real thing.

Applying a checklist to an essay and giving a score is NOT the same thing as spotting issues on essays, creating a dynamite outline, and avoiding Scrolling Hell.

A bar grader knows how to grade an essay. I can teach you how to write a great one!

Let’s Get Started

But enough about me. Let’s talk about what you want.

You want to issue spot-on essays for all 15 subjects, right? You want to outline like a champ, present an in-depth question and ace all three parts of the exam. You want to score higher, avoid retakes, and ultimately, you want to get started with your career!

So why wait?

Sign up and let’s get started. I’m ready to work.

I cannot endorse Steven Harris enough! He helped me pass the California Bar Exam on my first attempt. His style of teaching was very effective for my learning style and I appreciated his outlines. I have gone through many outlines and rule books but I have to say that Steven’s study materials were very well organized and made the most sense. The material was also organized in a way to help me easily memorize the rules prior to the exam. I remember opening up the first page of the essay portion of the exam and internally screaming “Yes! I got this!” There were moments during the tutoring process where I felt unsure and not confident that I had the ability to pass, but Steven reassured me and helped guide me on my weak points. Overall I’d say that the one-on-one guidance and attention during bar prep is unmatched and is extremely beneficial to passing the California Bar Exam on the first try!

Hi Professor. Not sure if you remember me, but I took your Critical Studies I class at UC Hastings in Fall 2021. I didn’t mention it at the time, but I was actually set to take the February 2022 exam, not the July exam like most folks in the class. Well, I just wanted to say THANK YOU because I got the results a few weeks ago and I passed. I know I don’t get the score breakdown, so it’s entirely possible that my MBE score had carried me, but I can’t help but think that taking your writing class allowed me to succeed. It definitely helped me jump into studying right away because I didn’t have to spend time learning what bar graders look for, or how to approach the PT. The Evidence Boilerplate came in handy on February’s test for sure, and I basically did all my PR rule memorization from your book. The boilerplate definitely helped for efficiency, but I also remembered the advice about time management–I was strict with my timing even on that essay, especially since the PT was in the same session. I’m so glad I decided to take your class!
