After discovering that I had not passed the July 2018 California Bar Exam, I knew I needed to reassess my situation and try a different approach for studying for the February 2019 Bar Exam. I convinced myself that I wasn’t going to use the same commercial bar course that I had used the first time around, even though a second cycle through it would have been free. Instead, I decided to seek out an expert – a bar exam guru. While doing a simple online search, I stumbled across Steven Harris’ website. It was here that I saw a friend and former law school classmate’s testimonial of her experience in preparing for the bar using Steven’s approach and methods. After speaking with her I knew I needed to follow up with thus guy. It was the best decision I could have possibly made.

When I initially reached out to Steven via email, he asked that I write a brief bio about myself, including my background and bar exam scores. Upon learning from my bio that I was a Military veteran, Steven made room for me in his already full schedule. He didn’t have to do that, but he did. And for that, I am forever grateful. Steven and I had weekly tutor sessions, 1 hour each, where we would review my performance on practice essays and discuss what improvements could be made. These review sessions, along with the substantive feedback, were crucial in pointing out my weak points and figuring out how to improve them. Additionally, Steven is a wealth of knowledge and was able to attack any substantive law question I had relating to MBEs

Using Steven’s methods, materials, and schedule got me to a point where I actually felt prepared walking in on exam day. His WINNIN’ TIME! book is a gold mine. It contains all the law you will ever need to know for the essay portion of the California Bar Exam. It is easy to digest and in terms that translate easily on exam day. The Trigger List and compilation of hand selected essays are the one thing that I think really helped me crush the February bar. He has hand-picked seven essays and model answers from each of the 15 topics on the Cal Bar and put them all together into two spiral bound books. These hand selected essays and model answers cover almost every possible rule that will be tested – that way you won’t be surprised by anything you see on the actual exam. When used in conjunction with The Trigger List, the results are amazing. Nothing will get past you – especially the major issues.

Steven’s boilerplates really help you get a jump start on the topics and issues that require a little more practice in order to master them. Everyone knows that Evidence essay questions are race horses, but practicing them using Steven’s Evidence Boilerplate and WINNIN’ TIME! book really help you improve your timing and flow. When the Evidence question popped up on the February 2019 exam, I handled it with ease, spotting many issues that I found out later were completely overlooked by everyone I spoke with. Steven’s strategies and tactics simply work.

Working with Steven was always a pleasure. You can really tell that he wants to see you succeed. If you’re considering a tutor, just do yourself a favor and reach out to him. As long as you do the work, you won’t be disappointed. – U.S. Army Sergeant, Esq., passed the February 2019 California Bar Examination
