This was my first time taking the CA bar exam and the second bar exam I have taken. I knew I needed a tutor to help me stay on track since I would be working while studying. I was particularly looking for a tutor with an outstanding essay preparation program and trusted in Steven at the recommendation of a former classmate and after hearing about his rigorous essay writing schedule, essay review week, PT program and prior experience teaching for Bar/Bri. I am happy to say I passed the exam and I largely attribute my success to the essay skills I learned from Steven.
From early in December, he taught me how to organize essays, from including headings to the sentence structure bar graders want to see and will award points. His Essay Review Week, in his program just days before the exam, is invaluable and exposes you to how the examiners commonly test subjects and cluster issues. Using his Essay Review Week and The Trigger List were very helpful in me understanding issues that I would not normally discuss but that the bar graders were looking for me to discuss. I also felt very confident on exam day about the PT after the multiple PTs Steven’s program gave me exposure to and his PT attack plan. The exam day just felt like another practice PT and I think I picked up a lot of points on the PT to offset any mistakes I may have made on other portions of the exam.
Lastly, Steven’s personalized approach with a custom calendar, emails, due dates and weekly calls held me accountable to a study plan and ensured I was ready by exam week. I would highly recommend Steven’s program to first time and repeat takers, especially those working and particularly for applicants who are preparing for the exam from the East Coast. I’m glad I made the investment and the CBX is now behind me! – S.J., Esq., passed the February 2018 California Bar Examination
