Repeater uses MBE/PT/Essay tutoring and passes February 2024!

I re-took and passed the February 2024 CA Bar Exam with Professor Harris’s guidance and encouragement.
After failing the July 2023 CA Bar Exam, I was so upset, but not surprised.  I was so nervous on the day of the exam that everything I learned and practiced went out the window in a panic.  I felt lost after receiving my results and I didn’t know where to turn.  Until I remembered that Professor Harris had mentioned in class that he offered individualized bar prep tutoring.
Working with Professor Harris was one of the best decisions I could have made as a re-taker.
First, he really knows his stuff, and he makes sure that you do too.  He has studied the ins and outs of this exam, and he knows the Bar Exam testing system like the back of his hand. His books are incredible.  WINNIN’ TIME! is brilliant. I marked up and memorized every single page of that book.  His book about MBE tips and tricks (MBE Primers and Flowcharts) is even better — it’s so good, it’s not even on the market.  I would have failed a second time without that MBE book.
Second, by the end of bar prep, my confidence was back.  Studying for the bar can be really depressing.  Sometimes, all you need is a push from someone who knows your academic potential, and Professor Harris did just that.  I really appreciated the personalized feedback and study schedule, and one on one weekly phone calls to discuss progress and cheer me on.
I’m forever thankful! — UC Law SF alumna, Esq., passed the February 2024 California Bar Examination

Repeater passes February 2024 California Bar Examination!

When I learned of my unsuccessful attempt at the July 2023 Bar exam, I recognized the need for a change in my strategy. This realization led me to seek out a private tutor. After carefully considering four potential tutors, I found Steve to be the ideal match. In just our initial conversation, Steve immediately pinpointed the areas where I had blundered in the exam. His dedication to ensuring my success was immeasurable, and I knew he would spare no effort in guiding me towards passing.

Steve’s course proved to be exactly what I needed. With a meticulously laid out calendar, it provided clear directives on what to focus on, which subjects to review, and crucially, when to commit information to memory — a point I’ll delve into later.

One of my primary challenges during my initial preparation was the lack of clarity on which rules to prioritize, what to memorize, when to memorize, and how to effectively apply them. Steve’s provided books became invaluable resources that empowered me to succeed in the February 2024 exam. Each book played a pivotal role in enabling me to effectively utilize learned or memorized information across both the MBE and essay sections.

Weekly meetings with Steve, where we delved into essay assignments and outlines, instilled in me a sense of confidence and purpose for each subject. The feedback he offered felt almost unfair as it was incredibly detailed, guiding me towards improvement even when I thought my work was good enough to pass as-is.

My lowest score in the exam came from the PT section, where I struggled due to the lack of a clear strategy from my previous preparation service. However, under Steve’s guidance, with his structured approach and feedback, I felt supremely confident this time around. His voice echoed in my mind, directing me towards pertinent information and helping me navigate through complex issues I found myself facing on the exam.

Memorization had always been my Achilles’ heel. I grappled with what to memorize, when, and how, as previously stated. Yet, Steve’s method proved indispensable. Through his guidance, I was able to confidently recall essential information during the exam, even in the midst of the challenging MBE section. Steve’s method, tailored to even the most memory-challenged individuals like myself, proved to be a game-changer.

Finally, Steve didn’t just bolster my confidence; he shared his wealth of knowledge and patiently addressed every query I had. Moreover, my mental burnout was nearly non-existent, as I suffered with my last attempt. However, with Steve, there’s no room for excuses—only tangible results as he knows when you should rest and study. Committing yourself to Steve’s program almost ensures success, as I can clearly prove. If you’re ready to dedicate yourself, Steve will undoubtedly guide you towards passing with flying colors. – Cal Western Alum, Esq., passed the February 2024 California Bar Examination.

UC Law SF (formerly UC Hastings) alumna passed the February 2024 Cal Bar Exam!

I re-took and passed the California Bar exam with the help of Professor Harris. He pushed me to re-conceptualize the exam through his essay writing and PT frameworks and feedback, and MBE tips. Professor Harris was my tutor, coach, mentor, and sole dedicated support system in preparing for my exam. He adjusted my study calendar multiple times when I fell off track due to working full-time, feeling burnt out, and life getting in the way. He taught me invaluable bar exam study methods culled from his many years of experience. The night before the bar exam, I did some last-minute review and briefly read Steven’s clear example for how to apply a particularly tricky analysis. The following day I did not panic when I was faced with that analysis on an essay. I could recall Steven’s framework and successfully apply it on the exam. Thank you, Professor Harris, for believing in me and preparing me to pass my exam. — UC Law SF alumna, Esq., passed the February 2024 California Bar Examination

Parent of student who passed the February 2024 California Bar Examination!

Steve,

My son worked with you on the February 2024 Cal Bar Exam, and I wanted to take a moment to express my thanks and gratitude for your program. I took the bar 34 years ago and fortunately passed the first time. You provided excellent strategic and tactical information for my son. He was focused and confident, and most importantly, had a plan of attack.

Thank you,

A grateful parent of a student who passed the February 2024 California Bar Examination

Student attends legal writing class from Seoul, passes the July 2023 Cal Bar Exam!

Dear Professor Harris,

I hope you are well and enjoying the holiday season.

The approaching Thanksgiving reminds me of you. I want to express my gratitude for your outstanding teaching in the legal writing courses. Your excellent lessons contributed greatly to my success on the bar exam. The lawyer skills I gained from your teachings have helped me to handle legal matters as well as any daily life matters efficiently. I feel like I will use these skills for the rest of my life. My supervisor always loves my briefs. When you come to UC Law SF, I would love to have a coffee or meal with you. I still live near the school.

Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with joy and appreciation! — Joseph Jo, Esq., passed the July 2023 Cal Bar Exam

Contextual note: Joseph was one of my students in my Legal Research and Writing 1 class from Fall 2000. We never met in person, due to the COVID year. Joseph’s situation was complicated by the fact that he lived in South Korea, and due to political issues at the time Joseph could not get a visa to come to San Francisco to attend law school. Our class was at 5 pm on Mondays. That meant that Joseph took my class THE NEXT DAY, 17 time zones away, and 5,600 miles away. But there he was, attending every class, with a big smile on his face, ready to learn. Joseph was inspirational to me and to the rest of the class. Nobody had any right to complain about how tired they were or how much homework they had. If Joseph could do it, how couldn’t they?

Law Office/Judge’s Chambers Student Passes the July 2023 California Bar Examination!!!

I passed the July 2023 California Bar Exam using Steven’s services and materials.  Specifically, I applied the mnemonics and essay-writing strategies contained in the WINNIN’ TIME! book exactly to the Torts, Crimes, and Remedies questions presented by the examiners.  When I saw the questions, the keystrokes felt like butter!  I wholeheartedly believe that this was a major factor in obtaining a passing score because up to the exam I seriously struggled with consistently achieving passing scores on the MBEs.  I also struggled with issue spotting and time management on performance tests.  Steven’s performance test strategies and feedback helped demystify where I was falling short.  I found the Essay Review process crucial in helping identify issue triggers, coupled with The Trigger List book. The memorization program was not fun at all but got the issue “outlines” into my brain so I was quickly able to access the list of potential issue I would have missed otherwise on the Business Associations and Professional Responsibility Bar essays.  Steven’s communication style is straightforward and blunt; it may not always feel good in the moment but it’s what’s needed to pass the test (at least for me).  As a final note, I did not attend law school – I “read” for the bar, aka self-study/on the job study.  So, Steven’s program was my only “formal” training and also the first time I encountered many of the subjects and issues tested.  Highly recommend. — Law office/judge’s chambers student, Esq., passed the July 2023 California Bar Examination

Cal Western alumna passes the July 2023 California Bar Examination!

To anyone doubting signing up for this program, just do it!  I found Steven’s program about two weeks into the program my law school endorses.  After the first week, I knew that the other program was not for me.  The program works for so many, it just was not a fit for me and I listened to my gut.  If you have any doubts, listen to them!  I did well in law school, but I felt I was not getting the feedback I needed and was not getting it fast enough.  Steven’s program was perfect for me in numerous ways.  Following his calendar, I rarely had any nights where I finished the day thinking I cannot do this again tomorrow (there is too much to do/it was too heavy), or that I was constantly playing catch up.  The condensed review videos are gold.  They are the reason why I was able to get the other work done and not feel like I was 75% of my day listening rather than applying.  Steven’s essay plan is the reason I passed the bar, I just know it.  The amount of writing and feedback, quick feedback, allowed me to get to a place where I felt confident when essay was finally here.  After essay day, I honestly felt off because I felt like I kicked butt.  After some reflection, I knew I felt good because of all the practice we did.  The weekly meetings allow you to touch base with a real person who is tracking your progress and giving you that extra push to get you through bar prep.  His memorization method, I have no words for.  Literally perfection!  I doubted what I would retain and the need to start memorizing when he said, but you just have to trust his process.  Essay day, I was able to access what I memorized, due to his techniques, and get it down.  Steven’s PT method gets you to where you need to be and quick. I ended up liking the PT practice because of the tips and tricks he gave me.   There is a lot more I can say, but the gist is if you have any doubts on where you are with your bar prep or maybe you do not and just want to make sure you do whatever you can do pass the bar, then sign up.  Thanks Steven, you helped me be a first-time bar passer! — Vanessa Feierabend, Esq., passed the July 2023 California Bar Examination.

5-star Bar Tutorial Program! Military Vet passes the Cal Bar Exam!

After failing the bar exam, I knew I needed a study program that provided one-on-one assistance. I was licensed in another state almost twenty years ago, but needed to pass the California Bar exam to keep my new job. Steven’s tutorial program was exactly what I needed! Steven tailored my bar study around my very busy work schedule. He provided me regular feedback by email and a weekly meeting. The feedback was essential to ensure I did not make the same mistakes I made when I failed the exam. His program is structured and demanding, while simple to absorb. Steven’s sense of humor is engaging and enjoyable. I highly recommend Steven’s Tutorial Program for an older attorney who needs a more personalized study strategy to pass the California Bar exam. — Senior Army Officer, Esq., passed the July 2023 California Bar Examination.

Katherine B., Esq., passed the July 2023 California Bar Examination

I highly recommend Steven’s CA bar exam review course. I had to take two years off between law school and actually taking the bar exam due to personal circumstances. Needless to say, I was worried about taking the bar after being out of school for so long. Nonetheless, Steven talked me through my concerns and assured me that it was doable. Steven’s approach was significantly different from other programs that I had previewed. Steven has compiled all different types of essays for each subject so that you will be exposed to all of the different ways that they will test the subjects on the essays. I found Steven’s essay review exercises EXTREMELY helpful as it taught me how to drill down and spot exactly what the graders are looking for. And while Steven will warn you that he is in fact not Ms. Cleo, his predictions for the bar exam that I took were 100% spot on. That’s because Steven knows this test inside out. No one studies the bar exam the way he does and he breaks down his program into sections that make the exam easier to digest. All of the different exercises in his program work together to help you build up your understanding of all of the components of the bar.

For anyone who looks at Steven’s books and/or outlines and thinks, “This is not enough, where are those fat bar prep books I always see?” trust me when I say that Steven has boiled it down to what you actually need to know to pass. There are so many subjects that you need to know for the CA bar exam, and you can’t learn every single thing about every single subject. Steven has studied the Bar and knows what subtopics from each subject you should focus on. Not only does this help you focus on the truly important topics for each subject, it also helps ease the anxiety of “I have to know all of this?” Passing the CA bar is no easy feat, but if I can do it after taking a 2 year hiatus, you can too. And Steven’s program will help make that a reality. – Katherine B., Esq., passed the July 2023 California Bar Examination
